Comments:  I am studying the Vietnam War in school. I am a sophmore in High School. I think it is horrible about the number of men who died in 'Nam. I also think it is horrible that there are still POW/MIA's. If I could "adopt" a POW/MIA, I would like to. Please send me information. Thank you. And my heart goes out to all the families that sufferedloss because of this war. Love, Kim.

Comments:  Web page is nice although I served with the 366th Supply Sq, USAF from Oct 66 to Oct 67 in DaNang and the pictures are all from Monkey Mt. I remember DaNang a little differently than that. We had tent city when I was there and were in the process of building barracks at the base when I left. I remember the daily mortor attacks , riding my bike across base to the supply building etc. Your web page is nice and let us never forget those who gave their lives and those who are still missing.

Comments:  I am an Air Force Vietnam vet, I was stationed at U-Tapao Thailand in 1975, when the war was supposed to be over. But Saigon and Phnom Phen fell and we ended up working around the clock for five or six month babysitting refugees. We are rumored to have pushed over a 100 thou refugees thru our base. Also I got into a lot of trouble after I gave into peer pressure and tried drugs. Then I decided I hated drugs and went on a crusade to keep my fellow Security Police from using drugs on duty. I ended up getting in some vicious fights and finding myself all alone and hated. I don't have a home page, but I made simple one for my dad. Thanks, we picked up some refugees with C130s in 75 from Da Nang. But I didn't recognize anything, not that I got much of chance to look around.

Excellent job on the photos.

Then moved a few miles south to "LZ Professional" with the 1/46th Inf. If only I could remember names of fallen comrades whose bodies we could not always retrieve I could possibly clear the air for their relatives. Some were weeks "in". Reported MIA--no body. Good page-memories...

Comments:  Super site! I served with C/229th Assaualt Helicopter Battalion 1ST CAV Division(Airmobile)Jan'68-Feb'69 as a UH-1H crewchief. Our base camp was at LZ Sharon, just outside of Quang Tri city. Danang to us was as close as you could come to being "states side", with it's PX, clubs, outdoor movies and mess halls with milk(both colors) and even ice-cream. We spent most of our time on the "HOT" PSP maintainance area at Red Beach doing serious type work on our ships, so yes these photos bring back lots of memories. THANKS!

Comments:  I was in Viet Nam from early 1969 until early 1970. I served in Golf company of the 2nd Bat., 7th Marines. Some names of places that may or may not sound familiar. Hill 22, Cobb Bridge, Operation Oklahoma Hills, LZ Ross, Hiep Duc valley. If any thing sounds familiar drop me a line at tskaggs6@hotmail.com, even if it doesn't write anyway. If you worry about imposing, wondering if I want to hear from you, etc, don't. We share a common bond of a hard time that nobody else can understand. Maybe its only a function of growing older but I find it a rare day that all of that doesn't cross my mind at least once. Write.

Comments:  Bob, this sure brought back memories, especially since I have very little left to remember everything by. I was stationed at Tien Sha and on Monket Mtn. I was in the Navy assigned to Camp security Naval Support Activity. I was there from March, 67 through October, 68. We rotated from perimeter security, to mountain top, and also Danang Harbor. I love the pictures. Any time you need some help for your book just give me a call.

Comments:  Enjoyed your pictures. They're better than mine. I was looking for the name of the mountain right outside of Da Nang where 1st Mar Div had their headquarters. I don't think it's Marble Mountain. I just remember the irridescent rice paddies, the low slung fog and the tip of the mountain. Nice work. Thanks for the memories. Joe

Comments:  Bob, Thanks for your response back and your offer to find further info about Col. Donald Elmer Paxton. Unfortunately, most of the available information about him is incorrect as it shows him a discharge date of sometime in 1973. However, his B-57 was seen to explode at night in northern Laos in the karst area and no chute was visible (this happened on Feb. 22, 1968). I'm not sure how the discrepancy occurred. His wingman (Mr. Charlie Stumpf of Savannah GA) told me that Don always was "on the edge" about many things in his life including flying and ordinance delivery. It's entirely possible that he waited too long to pull out of his dive before delivering his bomb load-I don't think we'll ever know. Like most of the guys over there, he was (is) a great person. See you in P.T.S.D. group Monday night. Terry Mansell 68-69

Comments:  I'm 47 years old, born in 1950 in England so if I'd been an American, I guess I would have been called up to fight in Vietnam. I don't know quite why, but all us students followed what was going on in the sixties. In one way we all felt a little guilty that we weren't part of the fighting, strange though that may seem

Comments:  I enjoyed seeing pictures of places I haven't thought about in 30 years. I was a Medical Service Corps Officer stationed with the Force Logistic Command at Red Beach (north of Da Nang) From Dec '68 to Dec '69. I have several friends who were with 1st Med Batt. The pictures really brought back memories. I retired from the Navy in 1992 after 25+ years. Any more pictures of that time and place would be great.

Comments:  I lived at Camp Tien Sha from May 1970 to Dec 1970. I worked at Lighterage Causeway. I served on the Y.F.U. 82 and the Y/F.U. 73. I have had 7 stories published about Vietnam in Soldier of Fortune. I broke my back at the Causeway during a fire in the engine room of an LCM 8 that we were turning over to the Vietnamese Navy. Spent 11months at Great Lakes Naval Hospital. In 1974 was appointed as a Deputy Sheriff, made Sgt. and firearms instuctor in 1978. Then pushed a car out of a snow bank in 1985, re-broke back in same spot. Been in a hospital bed since. So I have a lot of time on my hands and a box full of pictures of the area. So get a hold of me and I'll help as much as I can. E-mail me and I'll send you the stories that I've already got in print and we can do an audition thing. Bob

Comments:  I salute all that served and/or died for there country in the Vietnam war. I now flow in the foot steps your that were paid for in blood. My thoughts and prayors for those still missing in action. We set a lone table for those who have fallen. A plate is on that table with salt sprinkled on it that represents the salt in our tears. A wine glass that is turned upside down, for they are not here to drink with us. And finally a lone chair leaning against the table for they are not here to reep the benifits of there scrafice. Comments:  I was in Da Nang for about a month before moving on to IV Corp and the Naval Advisory Group AT 159 (I thought we were going to be like, you know, Peace Corps or something...:). Vietnam had a way of making you grow up REAL fast and tear you down at the same time. Spent about a week at Camp Tien Sha and the rest of my Da Nang time at Camp Carter. Rode shotgun on Beer and Coke supply trucks during Tet. Remember the Tucumcari fiasco? Nice pictures--I'll capture.

Comments:  I have been studying and researching the Vietnam War for almost three years now and your site inspired me. Because of what I have learned in the last few years, I find that the Vietnam Era must not be forgotten and that is why I have chosen to teach American History when I finish my college education... So that way I can personally make sure that the Vietnam War and everyone there will be remembered.
